Example: widgets in widget town for sale
However I am in a new area where the competition is huge and in most other websites they have 9 or 10 word titles
and using the word 3 times maybe
Example: Widgets for sale Widgets for rent from Widgets plc
Which is best?
Also how many inbound links is best on the first page
Usually I have keywords with in the url and it would look like this:
example: widgets.htm
but my new competitors have this:
example: [widgets.com...]
When using SEO software it shows that they have more keywords in the url and that I should increase my keywords in the url. However it now shows them as external links were as before they where inbound links.
My site shows 65 external links even though they go into the site it self and only 5 inbound links.
Not sure what to do in both situations if you understand tell me what you think.
Right from the top I'm going to say that you should do what made you successful with the other sites and work from there. Don't change a formula that worked...yet.
And don't change things just because a piece of SEO software tells you to. Yes, the top-ranked page might have more keyword repetitions in the title and the url -- but these might not be the factors that got the page ranked that high.
You have to consider all of the other on-page criteria and then the off-page stuff which, with Google, means inbound links and maybe even more important, inbound links with the keywords in the text.
I think in your case you should first build pages the way you know it should be done, with maybe a couple of tweaks here or there -- don't go overboard.
Then build your incoming links from other sites with keywords in the link text "Widgets in Widget Town".
Then, well, you know the routine. Just cross your fingers and wait. Then tweak a bit, etc.
