Reversed Anchor Text

"The Widget" vs. "Widget, The"

I was wondering if reversing the anchor text will affect the PR. For example if I have a page dedicated to a movie called "The Widget" but I link to it in the conventional alphabetical movie naming convention as "Widget, The" will that then transfer a lower PR to the dedication page than using "The Widget"? A similar example would be names such as linking to a page about employee "Bob Smith" with anchor text saying "Smith, Bob". Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

ALbino,

Nothing you do in link text is going to affect PR directly. PR is affected by pages which link to your page, and how much of their PR they pass when doing so, based on the number of links on their page.

Reversing the words as you have shown will simply make the page linked-to as "The Widget" show up as more relevant to a search for "The Widget" when quoted (assuming that the page title, description, and content supports the link text) than the page linked-to using "Widget, The". But since "the" is a stopword, it will be ignored if the search phrase is not quoted.

HTH,
Jim

Ahh.. so what you're saying is that it doesn't affect PR it just affects SERP. I gotcha. All the same I think I might go ahead and create a second smaller set of links from a different page that are setup as "The Widget" so I can maximize the SERPs. Thanks for the help Jim! :)
