The April 2003 update of Google has been released to Google's world wide data centres before the results have become anything like stable or finalised.

In the past Google data centres such as Google.co.jp have not been updated with new results until the Google data base is "finalised". The result of this change in policy has Google users receiving search results that are not of same high quality.

Is this change in policy by Google a result of the recent changes in the search engine market? Has Google been feeling the pressure to speed up the frequency of refreshing their data and compromised quality in the process?

Of course it will only take Google a couple of days to finish their update process, but the question remains, why release an incomplete update to the market early?

I'm not currently seeing new results at Google Japan, and anyway such behaviour is far from new. In the last update, I saw new results on www.google.com appearing intermittently within about 12 hours of the reported start of the dance.

It's weird

I am actually in Thailand right now, and am getting Google Nederlands for www.google.com! Google Guy, is this a joke!?

On www2, I am getting the same results for www.googlelands.nl (it says www.google.com, but the logo has Nederlands!) for one search term, but different results for another.

I actually now have a theory that Google was not formed by a Russian and an American, but by Guinness the brewery. And now they are reeking revenge on the world by telling us we are somewhere else and will soon be seeing leprichauns, and on that basis we will go and have a drink.

I'm convinced / off :-)
