After seeing some early signs of yet another terrible update for my sites, I'm ready to let it all go. Yes, the PR monster has cost me enough sleep for the last few weeks and months.

So, from now on I'm not going to spend ANY time on getting listed in directories, begging for link exchanges and all those other things. So what if some other spammy site gets ahead of me in the SERPs, I just don't care anymore.

Why won't I care? Because I'm going to spend all of my time on CONTENT - you know, that stuff that makes the internet work. In trying to make people remember my websites and getting them to come back through memory instead of a SE query, I will be much less dependant on SE traffic, Google included.

Mmmmm, it feels great to let go of it all :-)

I'm sorry it took you so long to figure that out jezzer72.... I did that months ago, and save $thousands in Scotch alone! ;)

For uttering heresy like this at Webmasterworld, we may have to hunt you down and burn you at the stake. ;) Plus, that's what all the webmasters say who are buried in the SERPs and unfindable. Personally, I go for great SERPs and useful content for the users of my sites. First you have to get them to your site. Once they are there, I realize if there is nothing of interest they will just surf away elsewhere.

I'll still need Scotch for my brain to come up with content of course ;-)

btw - The title of this thread should have been "How to get SLEEP back in my life" instead of "How to get google back in my life" ... can't find the edit button ...

Get good enough content and you won't have to ask for links anymore. They just start appearing.
