Hey guys. I've been out of this game since the good ole infoseek days. I'd like some advice about this.

google ex had ranked a copy of an old cache to #5 for my KW .. www2 www3 are indexing my site with changes I had made to the title and html at a lower #10 rank for my KW.

Would you guys change the site back to the way it was when ex ranked it number #5 or do you think the 5 spot move may have just been due to other factors? I want to be set up nice for the next crawl. Any suggestions would help.

Thanks

Infoseek days .... back when you could get into Yahoo in 2 weeks for free. What happy memories. I've been away and recently returned too.

I'd say it's a mixture of factors. Keywords in the title and H1 tages can be pretty important. Your keywords should be as undiluted as possible, so if you added more words to the title it should help to put it back the way it was. But you can make the biggest difference by adding backlinks.

As for the body ... well I can only speak from my experience, but after totally rewriting my index page last month, taking the emphasis off the keyword I was #2 for and focusing on another one, keeping the title and H1 the same, and adding a bunch of backlinks, my index page actually rose to #1 for that keyword, so I'd say that body text is not as important.
