Best way to let Google contact you.

How can I ensure that google can contact me easiest in case of a review?

I was just thinking regarding my dual domain penalty (which is now a 301). My site is quite large and represents perhaps 50-60% of companies of my small country and as such is pretty authorative. I'm also pretty sure that due to its technical nature, highly dynamic, frame driven, lots of complex javascript, in case of a penalty or other review it would probably be manual.

What is the best way to ensure the Google representative will be able to contact me/the webmaster of a site? Or is this an absolute no-no and google people will never contact the webmasters of any site?

Just wondering...

Killroy,

I feel that it is always a good idea to have an easy to find contact section on a website - for all sorts of different reasons - eg clients contacting you......

If a web user can find your contact details then if Google do a manual check they also will be able to find your contact details - whether they contact you or not is a different issue.

Its very unfortunate to see people criticize members personally in a forum, which we all believe is rather professional. Please respect ones sentiments. Don't we require people in this forum to come from across countries and without language barrier, should this forum claim to have the largest member base?

I don't think I've ever heard of an instance where Google have contacted anyone regarding a hand-edit.

Your best bet is probably just to make the best site you can for your users and don't do anything you know for sure is dodgy.

Most folks are in no more danger of getting hand-check than I am getting a date with Kate Pierson. - Don't worry about it, and work on your site ;)

Mod note: Sorry for the edits, folks. The apologies for the less than courteous post were removed, since they were no longer necessary after that post was deleted. No further discussion about it, let's go on from here and return to the original topic of this thread.

>>my dual domain penalty

killroy, I remember your original post. We were all concerned, since it was an innocent error that anyone could have made. Are you absolutely certain it was a penalty, or could it have been that the duplicate pages were just ignored and not given Page Rank?

Killroy,

If your site has a particular weight in your country and holds a large amount of information, then perhaps you can contact Google directly?

Chances are that it won't do any good, but there's no harm in popping an email to Google customer services?

I believe there is an email address specifically for enquiries about penalised domains - perhaps someone else can post it?

regards
Scott

Ok thanks, that's very informative. Last but not least I'd like to know if ANYBODY has ever been contacted. Perhaps if you're a large enough hub or authority, and have a blatant but obviously unintentional violation they might, at least I hope so.
I sure haven't optimised my site for SEO and it's obvious that I haven't spend any thought on SEO until know, but yet as I study my page I see some oportunities for penalisation. I jsut hope they give me the time to fix it.. it's a large and messy site.

PS: Thanks for your kind moderation. I don't eally offend easily :)

On the couple of times that ive contacted Google, their response has been pretty prompt.

(and is usually, "no Scott we wont put your link on our homepage!" ;))
