Google, can you move the Q=?

Would it be better to move it to the beginning?

So there's less likelihood of it being truncated in logs / analysers etc?

And could somebody shed a light on teh different query namings such as:
as_epq=
as_eq=
as_q=
q=
p=
and probably some more...

makes it a pain to extract form the logs.

They surely msut have SOME meaning!

Where 'q=' appears in the url depends on the individual search, whether you used the toolbar, was it an advanced search and so on. And Google don't write urls to make it easier for your particular log analysing ;)

'as' stands for "advanced search". If you do an advanced search you get as_whatever for all the elements of the advanced search criteria. Go to google's advanced search page and then do an advanced search yourself, and it's pretty easy to decipher.

as_q= all of these terms

as_epq= exact phrases

as_oq= at least one of these

as_eq= not these terms

as_occt= where the term appears (e.g. title)

etc etc...
