OK, surfing here w/ the google toolbar. Click on the green directory button for WW.

One guy, two links ahead of WW has a PR of 7. Backlinks of over 800. Except for maybe 2-3 of them, one of which is the dmoz category, it is all internal links. The outside backlinks sure do not seem to take it to a PR7. It can't be internal backlinks bringing a site to PR7, can it?

Then the weird thing, there are more backlinks of internal links then there are if you do an allinurl:domain.com... So I'm totally confused... (Do I need an http://www.domain.com for the allinurl to work?) WW has over 56,000 allinurl... and 9,000 backlinks...it should have a higher PR for sure...yet is 2 lower than this guy?

Is there something wrong w/ the google algo or am I missing something?

You can't really come to any accurate conclusions about backlinks using Google.

There are many PR7 sites that have been built on a solid foundation of PR3 links.

Yeah...I realize it could be theoretically so...I just don't have the feeling that it is so in this case...just a gut feeling..

What also makes me wonder is how a site can have more backlinks then allinurl?

Check backlinks on Alltheweb for the < PR4 ones. Remember to check internal pages too.
