In another thread, someone was talking about:

"I'm still seeing April 4th fresh tags"

What does this exactly mean? I'm just getting used to SEO and the terminology so be gentle. ;)

Had 14 googlebots on the site a few hours back along with AV, LookSmart, Inktomi and Alexa - t'was getting busy in there....

First of all, Welcome to WebmasterWorld!

Onto business:

A 'fresh' tag means that Google has updated its cache of your website. The 'fresh tag' is recognized by a date toward the bottom of your listing. Typically, this 'fresh' tag is caused by a higher page rank and a frequently changed page, the results are that sometimes a page will rank on new keywords within days (48-72 hours)

That is the short explanation, as I see it.

I saw a fairly full afternoon of freshbot visits today as well. Was kinda nice. I hadn't had these visists for several days and then boom, a Sunday afternoon freshbot party. Even nicer was that I had finished up another round of updates and additions this morning so freshbot had a very fresh buffet to nibble through.

Thanks for the explanation. Also, googlebot is back in force on our forum. He has a 40,000 post archive to munch through so it appears as if the bots are doing it in parts and not as a whole?
