Using expired domains with high PR to get listed in Google

Does anyone know if purchasing expired domains with a high PR and linking from that domain to your other pages still work for Google? Preferably I'm looking for domains with PR of 6 or higher with a freshbot tag.

Does anyone also know where I can find domains like this for free? I've been using Xenu linksleuth to check for expired domains in DMOZ, the only problem is that a lot of these domains still show another user on the whois info, even though the domain has been expired already. I suppose the registrar is holding them a bit longer.

I realize that doing it that way can possibly have the domain banned, but I work in an industry where a good listing can generate thousands of dollars in a month, it doesn't matter if the domain gets banned in a month or two, I can start all over again.

Last update Google employed a filter that weeds out those expired domains. Most expiered domains will go to zero with the next update... I had several that all went POOF! There are a few posts about it... My advice work on a good linking strategy and don't waste your time with expired domains. That game is over.

I still see quite a lot of sites in google who are listed in top searches because the pages are being fed by a high PR site with a freshbot listing, and some other top listings were on previously expired domains where I know for sure the webmaster snatched them up for their high PR and put ads for something unrelated and they are still in google so I think it's working, but I guess I just want more reassurance from other people.

If Google put a filter on this then why is this method of obtaining PR still working? Just wondering. And if you can make over 20k a month on super good listings, it wouldn't matter if the domains got banned, you can always buy new ones.

The good news here is that there are no possible penalties for buying expired domain names. Which if you think about it makes sense. How could Google ever know if someone bought a domain for the PR of old links, or whether they just liked the name?

Googleguy stated it will be 2-3 months before the expired domain filter is FULLY implemented. Last update it was partially implemented, so not all expired domains got PR 0. I agree with lazyz, work on a good linking strategy and don't waste your time with expired domains.

JackieC, why do you want a FREE tool when you're making thousands of dollars a month?.

I know of a few paid services that sell expired domains that have listings in Yahoo / DMOZ but like everybody else has told you, you've missed this particular boat, the game's over.

domains purchased before the filter was implemented still work for obvious reasons.

newly registered domains cannot transfer the backlinks anymore, like i painfully had to experience with the last update.

expired domains do get some traffic from links.
but about the PR thing,it wont work now.

i got a domain with PR7 last month.
and google still entertains my domain.
im lucky then :-)

Free? Nobody gives that sort of stuff away for free. A software package to scan expired domains for traffic use is going to cost you at least $150 plus subscription fees.

But look, an expired domain isn't going to have any PageRank in the long term. There's really nothing to stop Google using the same lists from Exody and similar dropped lists as other people do. An expired domain is really only useful if you're going to use the traffic, are interested in the domain keywords or you're going to sell it on.

Im not making thousands per month. I said my NICHE or industry is very lucrative, its the most lucrative idustry in on-line marketing and webmasters who spam Google in my niche are making tens of thousand per month if not even hundreds of thousands, but I never said I was one of them. If I was one of them, why would I ask for free tools? lols
