hi to all ,

no doubt a dumb question but...

while building my webpages and uploading them the google toolbar stated a page rank of three for my pages , when the site got indexed they went to zero.

I am a total newbie to this seo business so any suggestions would be great

cheers

Hi crusty, Welcome to WebmasterWorld.

When G first finds a site it makes an educated guess as to the PR which it then revises as the index is rebuilt and PR is recalculated for the entire index.

In a nutshell, if you have low PR then you need links. I suggest you read up in the Link Develeopement forum and the Google forum which should give you the necessary steps to take.

A site with zero PageRank may mean a problem. It could be that the site contains duplicate content, or penalized.

Yes agree with woz. Since your website is new and has no backlinks it has a PR of 0. With time and good incoming links it would change though.
