No. Or rather, emphatically not.
They are unlikely to harm you (if they could, then your competitors would happily submit you to them), but they will not help you.

pretty much agree with Mohamed; most of the time, your link has dropped off the FFA page within literally minutes of being posted.

I've seen some high ranking sites that contain a few links from FFAs, but I agree that this is not why the rank high. Yep, FFAs are worthless, I wouldn't waste time with them.
