Story of the Day & Freshbot

Will a rotating Story of the Day bring Freshbot back?

The site I'm preparing to launch will have a Widget Story of the Day featured on the main page. This will rotate through all the widget stories.

I see this as a good thing for getting visitors coming back and getting them to read more widget stories -- and hopefully buying widget books.

But will it also keep Freshbot coming back (once I get the PR where it would need to be to attract Freshbot) by seeing it as fresh content?

dwilson, sometimes Freshbot comes back even when there aren't any changes to the page or the site for ages.

There's been a big discussion about Freshbot you might want to read through:

My philosophy is that adding new content can't hurt. Your users will like it. :)

GG, many share your view ... (and iffin ya'll went ahead with that dancy thingamagig, lots of users would have some new content in the serps ... well, if nothing else, it'd be rearranged a tad.

Hmmmmm, what's good for the google goose is good for the google gander?

Sorry, low sleep, but it was funny to me even it it weren't for anyone else.

GG - and I take it that whatever makes the punters happy pleases Google too?

One question - I have a few pages that have been added recently and picked up by freshbot. They're ranked for their keywords at the moment. Is that ranking purely provisional using the info brought back by freshbot and likely to chaneg in the update? Or is it a reflection of the 'true' ranking?

edit: corrected spelling.

1. you need reasonable Pr first before Freshbot even starts visiting regularly.

2. I *think* that freshbot looks for links to *new* content, not existing (even if rotated) content, for it to be enouraged to come back. I dont think rotating content will help much, but am willing to be convinced.

3. As a user iid prefer they didnt fresh rotating content! I want to see NEW stuff in my google results...
