I have a PR6 site and it seems to get freshtags every day.
If I add some new content today, when is it likely to get listed in the SERPS. Is it this update or the next.

Thanks.

If I add some new content today, when is it likely to get listed in the SERPS. Is it this update or the next.

The next update will do the following:
Take all the content retrieved from your site by googlebot during the last deep crawl and index it.

At this point, freshbot will then add the updated results from the last fresh crawl and add these to the virgin index, overwriting anything that already exists in the index.

Therefore, freshbot typically crawls the web on a regular basis, with the results being added to the index one or two days after freshbot has hit your page.

So, to answer your question, generally if you added some content today, and your site is hit by freshbot within the next 24 hours, expect to see changes in the index in 24-72 hours. Note this is not a GOLDEN rule, only a GENERAL rule with plenty of exceptions.

I always put a what's new item on my homepage whenever I add new content of importance. This links directly to the new page making it temporarily a 2nd level page. That way the freshbot will be sure to catch it. If the new page is buried too deep it can be missed for a while.

The fresh pages/changes will only stay in the index for a short time (2 days I think).

They should show permanently in April/May update.

For this reason I leave the 'what's new' links up on my homepages for about a month. Perhaps I should take the updates into account and make sure the pages have been picked up in an update before I take them off of my root index page.

Meanwhile as long as I am getting the fresh bot every day or so that seems to keep the new material in the serps.
