I've had the site up for a while and have paid to be in the directories/se that you guys have suggested.
I've seen post here that said that as sson as they where listed in Yahoo that Google started spidering them.
I've manually submitted my URL to Google too.
Yet GoogleBot fails to come by, it reall sucks that when a potential customer types in [my domain] into Google a link to mysite doesn't even come up!
Any ideas?
BTW This is a great site and resource.

[edit reason] sorry, no references to your site, please. [/edit]
It takes a bit of time to get in, but in the mean time, dont worry, instead work to ensure you get a good ranking when you get in (link development etc etc).
And I'm finding that many web surfer just type in your name rather than your url into the web address box.
Thus they are unable to find even a mention from Google, thus making me look not legit.
I'm worried about PR rank, but heck I'd just be thankful for just showing up it they search on my name.
PR isnt likely to be something to worry about too much - it takes time to build up, but you have mentioned getting a link from yahoo. Try and get a link from dmoz too (if you havent already done so). Basically keep working on PR and it will come - it can take a wee while though, but stick at it, and dont worry (yet!).
I'm doing the adwords with Google, and I submitted the site to Dmoz at the first of the month. Then I submitted to yahoo because I had read posts here that said they were spidered almost immediately.
As far as I can tell if a user searches with the name of my site it atleast comes up on almost all of the SEs but Google.
I don't know if anyone here knows what the statistics are but evidintly many people use SE to go to their sites instead of the address box on their browsers.
I'm just having a hard time getting people to join even though they know the site is in the early stages because when they type in the name of the site into Google it doesn't even retreive my URL. This is my number one problem.
I know I have to be patient but I'm in awe with Google now.
Google has been my default web page on my browser for years. I've been writing mission critical software and my site is my first commercial site. I'm really dismayed that it takes this long to become part of the largest SE.
I understand Googles concept, but they are missing the boat by not taking a small fee to just include your website name in their index.
This is great for established businesses because it raise the barriers of entry to new comers.
I've gotta tell ya, I'm losing a little love for Google over this.
I've been going back through my logs and found the above ips went to 10 different pages on my site. They seem to be google ips. This occurred on 3-21-03.
Its time consuming to find these because you have to cifer out the ones from Adwords.
So if those are googlebots how long will it take for my pages to appear? Sorry to be redundant.
Also Altavista seems to have spidered my entire site today.
