Freshbot Theory

pages going in and out of the SERPs

I have recently noticed something in some of the serps for a particular area I am watching.

Since just after the last dance a spammer has been residing at the top of certain serps. It seems that this spammer is on the way out though, because every once in a while they disappear from the results (and someone reported them). But then after a bit, they reappear.

In the last week, we have all seen the freshtags come and go, and come back again. I have noticed that the reappearence of the spammer happens just after freshtags themselves reappear.

Could it be that Freshbot has instructions to go to this page and 'get it', at which point the page is put in the serps, only later to be removed (not sure how or exactly when) and then reinstated after another f-bot visit?

I wonder if this applies to new pages too. New sites that are picked up by f-bot before their first dance, then drop out, then back again, until the dance when they are included and the spammers removed for good?

Yes, I've noticed the same thing. It appears the list of spammers removed from the last update hasn't made its way to the freshbot list yet. I'm not sure why, seems pretty simple to me.

Sounds like EVERFLUX.

Nope it's not a bug that people can catch but the ongoing update of the listing by freshbot. GG, Brett and others have been discussing about that in numerous threads. Try the site search with the "everflux" keyword.

I am aware of everflux.

I was just seeing a pattern here, and trying to make something out of it. More so, trying to get a better idea of how they take out and introduce pages with f-bot.

I don't see this as helping wrt SEO, just interested in how it works.

The sites I see had a PR of 5, now they are grey bar. But freshbot still includes them.
