does google count these links just as any other links or are they considered more "important" when google ranks a site?
example: a link from yahoo/dmoz PR5 cat and a link from some regular site with PR5.

The general concensus seems to be that a link is a link, period.
Of course a DMOZ link is really at least two links (one from DMOZ itself, one from directory.google.com, just perhaps more from DMOZ clones though most have PR zero), and you may get multiple links from regional Yahoo!s
