I am not quite clear on the diff between the deep and fresh bots I guess. I thought that the deep bot was the one that cached your page to be in the next update, and the freshbot just updated changes to the cache version in between updates, but did not affect rankings between updates.

This does not seem to be happening with my page.
Last month we messed up our robots.txt file and so were not in the Feb update. You could type www.mydomain.com and it would not find us so we were really out of the index. Once we fixed the robots file the bots were crawling us again.

Previous to our screw up we were #4 for our main keyword. About 3 days after the bots started crawling us again we appeared at #31 with a grey bar and no backlinks. Both bots were hitting us but I assume freshbot got us back into the index because we have a grey bar and no back links. I didn't realize freshbot would do that

A day later we were at #21, still grey bar, no links.
A few days later (yesterday) #20, grey bar no links.

The rank changing seems to have happened after the fresh bot not the deep bot. I did change the home page quite a bit, added keywords etc. I am assuming that this is why the ranking moved up a bit.

I made the keyword change after the deep bot visited so I am wondering if the caches that freshbot has gotten will be used in the March update or the ones that the deep bot had before my changes?

Any thoughts or comments?
