Hello,

Has anybody else experienced this problem? I just noticed it in my logs:

I have links to dir1/index.htm , dir2/index.htm ...

However, in the logs I see Google trying to access dir1/ and dir2/ (no reference to index.htm). Since index.htm is not the default page, the web server is returning 404 and the page is not getting crawled.

Yes,

Google assumes that you will set up your "/" page to point to "index.htm" or "index.html" if you do use those page names. You should either make index.htm your default page, or use a different name for those pages.
