Last Sunday, in the middle of Google's update, I noticed that my main page had shown up in their index. I was pretty surprised that it showed up that quickly, but it had been hit by googlebot once (before that update, it had been the only page on my site hit by googlebot, and hence the only one updated). Anyways, I was happy because it was doing pretty well on the keywords (for as new as it was), but mostly I was just happy that I'd made it into Google at all. I have the patience to work my way up to the top.
However, a few days ago, it dropped out of Google's index again, and now it doesn't show up at all, even if I do a search specifically for my domain name or some part thereof. The search for my domain does, however, pull up two links to my site. I panicked at first, and so I've done every bit of research I can to figure out if I've been banned. I installed the Google toolbar and visited my site. It shows a gray bar, which as near as I can tell from this forum means it simply isn't in Google's index. Also, my full site has been crawled by Googlebot since it dropped from Google's index.
The best I can figure out is that I just suffered from some quirk of Google's index, and that if I wait until the next update I'll probably be put back in. I'm a little nervous, however, that I might have been banned. Does any of what I've mentioned sound like it might have caused a ban? It doesn't seem extreme enough to me. The only other thing I've done is run searches on Google for the sole purpose of seeing what my ranking is, but I seriously doubt that I've done it anywhere CLOSE to enough to show up on their radar.
Am I just being paranoid, or am I screwed?
It sounds like the work of freshbot.
I would not worry unless you are using spammy techniques.
While you wait for the next update you should work on creating more content as well as getting more incoming links.
Hopefully someone else can offer another answer as well.
Sorry to bother everybody with a repeat question like that.
