Stupid question probably...I'm ranking on the first page for a few keyword phrases and on the second for a few more. These are new pages that previously weren.t there. I know that the dance is on and things are jumping around a bit but why have I seen no traffic from my new rankings yet? :(

That depends on your keywords. If it is a word which is very rarely searched for, than you might only get a visitor every once in a while.
Also: How often are your statistics updated? Maybe you are already getting traffic, however your statistics weren't updated so you are not seeing them.
