Is anybody seeing new pages, say that were added in mid-January, showing any pagerank? I see none, including dmoz pages and other obvious ones.

I see people mentioning pagerank but I have seen zero (I do have that line in my HOSTS file for the newest pagerank). I've been thinking that the comments being made are from people who don't have the line in their hosts file, so they are just catching up or something. And I've been thinking that whenever the Google Directory updates that maybe then we will see new pagerank as well as the new categories of the sites that have been in dmoz for months but now will join the Google Directory.

Anyway, it seems to me that the most important part of the update hasn't even started yet.

Yes Steve, this is because the update hasn't finished. It could be some time yet.

If you find a Google IP address that gives the current results and use that IP address for toolbarqueries.google.com, then you'll see the new PageRank.

I would expect any changes made before roughly January 26 to show in the new index.

We have a couple of new sites with no PR yet also.
I have changed the Hosts file, but still grey bar.
The sites are showing in the SERPS though, and are showing
backlinks, but no PR.

I have checked sites linking to the new sites, and they are showing new sites in their backlinks, so hopefully the new
sites are at least PR4.

If you show backlinks in the new index, then I expect you'll see PageRank when it settles.

I seem to remember that the new PRs could be seen very early on in the dance last time. I too am surprised that we are not seeing these yet this time around.
GoogleGuy said something just before the start of the dance about the fact that we will see some readjustment of PRs due to the change in the number of pages that were indexed this time. Thus, I anticipate a flurry of posts here when the toolbar starts broadcasting the new PRs…

Spica, if you set your toolbarqueries.google.com to an IP with the new index then you'll see the new PR (the method depends on your set up).

I already have. During the last update, I saw the new PRs almost immediately. However, like steveb, I am apparently not seing new PRs yet this time.

Yep, same here.

Had no problems getting new PR last update, but different
this time.

Last month 216.239.33.100 toolbarqueries.google.com worked great. They must have changed the IP number this month. Anyone have the new one?

yankee, last time I checked 216.239.33.100 was still February's index. 216.239.57.100 works for me.

The trick is just to use the IP address from a Google subdomain with the current results. So if www2.google.com shows the new backlinks, find it's IP and the Toolbar will get the new PageRank.

should it be kept to ww2.google.com ip or should we go back to 216.239.33.100 after viewing?
