I am starting to see that managing your rankings and site changes is very crucial to continued optimization. For each update, I use an excel file to chart positions on my main keywords and the pages on my site which are returned in these SERPs. Additionally, I have begun logging the optimization strategies implemented per page/per update.
Anyone have any suggestions on a more efficient way to track this or additional info you gather to help continued growth?
I do map out a monthly game plan after each update. It's more like get this many links to these sites, add some pages there, change this group of pages, run a title tag test on these other pages, etc etc..
These days my main focus is on site/link structure. I.E. Build it right the first time...
Now that I have some decent positions for main keywords, I am debating diversifying some of my future inbound link text to target some lower keyword positions. Its tough b/c I still want to ensure stability in my heavy hitters.
I have also try to keep track of page size, title, meta, etc.
Could you elaborate a bit more on "title tag test"?
