not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but I am seeing new and updated directory entries on www2 and www3 for some sites that I have had newly listed in DMOZ but have never been in the google directory... (still not in www)

very exciting to see, even if it doesn't directly improve pagerank

Yes you can see the updated results on www2 and www3. Kind of...one of my sites that was added to DMOZ in Dec shows but one that was moved to a higher category continues to show in the lower category.

The backward link from the Google directory seems to be missing on these two sites as well. Has anyone else seen this? What is one supposed to make of it? I know...I know...wait till the update is over...

How do you check the directory updates, are there new rankings also?

Normally it is here [directory-ex.google.com...] however not indicating anything newer than Dec 2002

Two of my sites are showing up as being in the Google Directory for the first time, with a link directly to the category, but the sites don't actually show up in the Directory yet.

There was a boost in rankings with one of the sites when the ODP listing was first counted, and there's been a dramatic difference this month.

So will the directory be updated when the dance is concluded.

It usually roles over at the end of the update, but this time I have seen it come and go today on directory.google.com so who knows.

We can more than likely expect that it'll be updated if links to the categories are showing in the SERPs. What I'm wondering, though, is whether the PR from that listing has already been tallied in or is still to be added.

I haven't seen any change to my PR either. Is any change possible after the index is updated?

Those were my exact thoughts. Esp considering that one of my sites moved up a category and one was just added. And the backward link from the directory did not show on either. The link from DMOZ for each did though.

The site with the changed category is now showing the new category in the SERPs on www2 and www3. But the backward link is from the old category...so some crunching is still going on as far as these links are concerned.

All in all backward links have fallen.

I've been waiting for that new link to show in the Google directory. Haven't spotted any change so far.

What I'm wondering, though, is whether the PR from that listing has already been tallied in or is still to be added.

Good question!

I have a site that was included into DMOZ on Feb 22. Does anyone know if the "dance" is still updating from DMOZ?

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, James.

Feb. 22 is running a bit close, if it's been included you'd already see it when doing a search. I have seen additions mid-month at times, though.
