Hi there

I have like everybody here been watching the update.. very bad results for me so far in www2:

a) I still have the same PR than before (PR5) - Well this is the PR i see in Googlebar. (BTW Is there a way to see the "new" PR for www2? maybe i'm not watching the right stuff)

b) I (finally) got my site listed in ODP and now when i search for my domain in www2, i see the Google Directory Category under the listing (good!)

But...

c) I have only 2 backlinks on www2 and even my interior pages don't even show as backlinks.. i have been adding at least 25 new link partners last month, which were all quality websites, listed in GG, with some of them PR5-6

and worse

d) I lost all SERPS for my search terms... even if domain is still listed and PR5

I would appreciate if somebody has an idea about this

Thanks :-)

Update is probably not over yet. New links, added last month may very well be counted for your site in the next update.
I'd be pretty confident in your case, with lots of PR5 or 6 added, that should make for quite a positive change.
Apart from that: links and pure PR is not all there is.
Your competition may have done some work, you may have lost a couple seemingly unimportant links which had your keywords in it etc.
And finally, many people use one keyword as benchmark. Often, you may see negative changes in ranking for that keyword, but positive changes for seemingly less imprtant keywords. Look across a whole range of keywords to see how the site is really doing.

Well, very bad actually - I monitor more than 30 search terms related to my site, and results simply don't show up.. so strange...

More strange: When i search for my website using the title of my home page (which is *very* unique because in contains the name on the company), i see only sites pointing to my site - because the link anchor text is my home page title - but i don't get my site...

Anyone else experiencing stuff like this

Yeah, it is discouraging, but that's the way of this beast. When the dance occurs, your fresh results disappear for a while. They will be back in a couple of days, so don't worry. My question is why? Why does freshness go away? Why doesn't Google want the freshest results possible? Some of the other SEs are picking up my new pages. Why not Google?

Does anyone knows how to check PR from the new index?

If you have windows to to:

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc

and modify the

hosts

file so you have the following entry.

216.239.33.100 toolbarqueries.google.com

This will direct your toolbar to display PR from www2 I think.

I don't know when PR is updated during the update though, but you should see changes before the end of the dance.

Carlr:
The exact same thing you are saying is happening to our site right now! I have added rich content pages, received new backlinks and now, I have instead of 76 backlinks only 26 in the www2 server. My pages are no longer showing as backlinks! I have gone up in almost all of my main keywords to the first page! I hope this backlink thing will still change before the dance is finished!

Its a system/hidden file in Windows so you have to tell Windows to view it

Ertremeexports, i see that i still can find your site when typing related keyphrases "extreme exports" (trying to cheer you up 8-)

My problem is i type the title of my home page in www2 and i don't see my own site... only pages that link to mine....

Okay, carlr there is still hope. I now reinstalled the line to put into the host file on your computer so you can view the www2 server. NOw, when I look it up in the 3x3Google surfer it still shows my backlinks going down from 76 to 26 but when I look at the backward links on my toolbar with this added script, they went back up to 54. Now I can see some of my internal pages again. So it will be changing still I am sure the same thing will happen to you. And your internal pages will start to show again. Wheww that was a close one. I feel a little better now. I would hate to lose my pagerank (5 - not that good but better than a 4) after all of this work I've been doing. So keep your hopes up. :)

Carlr:
Sticky me your site name and I'll try it in my toolbar, with the added script and see if it shows up there.

My site has kept its rank but dropped hundreds of positions. Just like the other posters here, when I put in the actual title I get results for lots of pages that link to mine and mine is still about 4 pages in. I think I should put the site back the way it was in the last months rankings even though I didn't make many changes. If I change it back to exactly what it was is that likely to bring it back next month?

Same here - this is really gonna hurt.
Search for "Heavenly Treasures" puts me like in the 100th position & all my affiliate program links before me. I've been #1 for years & years, quite dramatic.
