About 1 month ago my backlink from a PR6 was removed. My website had a PR5 with a bunch of PR4 and one PR6 before the update. I now lost that PR6 Backlink about a month ago and now my PR5 dropped to a PR3 during this update and i was buried in the index. i used to enjoy a # 9 spot on a very popular keyword and now during the update it bumped me to # 225 on that same keyword. can that happen? by losing a PR6 backlink can i get bumped from #9 to #225 on a keyword search?

Yes, I think it is the reason. Try looking for more good backlinks. Don't depends on only one.

That's right AthlonInside. If most of your PageRank comes from one high PR link, then you may loose considerably (PR and ranking) if that link is removed, or if the page it's on has a hosting or other problem at the moments Googlebot visits.

Hmm, with a bunch of PR4... it should be possible to get a 4 yourself. Depends on some more factors.
Like AI says: work on links.
Also: try to get creative with keywords. Many people here have come to the conclusion that breaking out of the habit of targeting *the* keyword, and instead going for lots and lots of phrases can be extremely rewarding.

Finally, from working with low PR sites I can confirm: with a PR4 you usually can get higher than many PR5 or even PR6 sites.
