My clients´ site was ranked in the third page of google until she asked me to replace the contents of the index.shtml page and put a flash introduction animation which would redirect to an index2.shtml when finished. My guess is that google only follows html links and not flash redirections. I tried going around this problem by adding a <a href=> tag pointing to the index2.shtml page with no text showing (I don´t want to ruin the appearance of the intro), but no dice.
Can anyone help,please?
Thanks in advance.
You're right, Google won't follow the redirect that's within your Flash file. But users today pretty much expect to be able to bypass a Flash intro if they choose to -- if you just place a text "skip intro" link on the page under the Flash movie, you'll both give them that option and give spiders a link to follow.
so, the link <a href="index2.shtml"></a> wouldn't work? I really would like to keep the swf occupying 100% of the window.
