I undesrtand that HotBot and Inktomi "like" to have pages resubmitted to them - that this refreshes good listings.

I also have been told you need to change the last updated date for Inktomi to "swalllow" this.

If this is true. For what search engines does it work and are there any known (META) tricks to avoid having to change the last updated date?

Ya, it generally helps to change the last modified date for Ink. They do read that and track it. So does NorthernLight. I'm not sure about Google, and you actually don't want the date to change with Alta.
