Conflicting information on how often to submit...

Hi there,

For quite some time I have been under the belief that it is standard to wait approximately 28 days in between submitting manually to search engines. Although, recently I read that if you submit every month, that can do more harm than good.

Which is true? If it is the latter, how can you stop the likelihood of your ranking plummeting?

Looking forward to your replies.
Thnx
Tosca.

Hello Tosca - welcome to WMW.

Oversubmission is not the problem that it used to be. The SEs have such good filtering rules now that they catch dups and stuff really quite quickly.

My general rule is: if a page has changed then submit it regrardless of the last submission. If a page hasn't changed but is in the index, don't resubmit it. Resubmitting a page that is listed but has not changed will not help you.

If pages aren't listed I usually give it a couple weeks between submissions.

Thanks for getting back so soon. Such a handy forum, wished I found it months ago. Would have saved so much time!

Ho hum...
