A couple I have found that seem to have merit:
webtop
whatuseek
What others may have some reasonable potential?
I realize these are really dwarfed by the majors, but if you submit to say, 5 or 10, and get as many referrals from them (combined) as you would from a SE with the volume of one such as Northernlight, me thinks it's worth the time.
Thoughts?
But doing SEO for that kind of website is pretty rare. If/when I submit to these, I'd have to classify it as "hobby," "need a change," or "obsession."
The one notable exception occurs when one of these SE's or directories happens to make it big through some sort of alliance. Look what previous time spent in Looksmart would be worth now. But those tea leaves are hard to read.

Not really my site, but it does help when looking at overall earnings per visitor. I am mainly scratching and clawing at anything I can to succeed, hoping to not have to go back to work for "the man."
>Submission Wizard
I took a look at submitwolf and addweb last night. I didn't get too far, as they have lots of engines that are region specific. Does submission wizard have a good many that are US based? That is my target audience.
Is there a good resource listing these type engines?
