to do or not to do if page content has changed...

If a page is already indexed, ranking so-so, and you make some modifications to the page, is it advisable to resubmit to the engines, or just wait for their next reindexing? And does it matter to what extent you modify the page?

If advice varies per SE, please specify.

Thanks!!!

My general resubmission rule is not to resubmit if you like the rankings. If you change something in an effort to improve rankings it is usually faster to resubmit than to wait around for a spider that may or may not come back on its own.

Agreed, if it is in say the top20, don't mess with it. SE's aren't as touchy as they used to be on resubmission (with all the submission spam that goes on), but it is still better safe than sorry.

I have done the best by resubmitting regularly every two weeks
even when I have top rankings. The hits increase steadily.
