Secure page indexing

Do search engines index / accept secure pages

Is it still the case that sites in a secure area ie: https:// can't be indexed?

sites behind firewalls or password protected areas are not indexed, https URL's can be indexed, but most keep them from being indexed, or they are scripted and so the SE doesn't follow the link to the actual SSL page. All this adds uo to not many being indexed.
