I am receiving loads of queries from traffic magnet asking whether I want to be submitted to 300,000 search engines. Is anyone else receiving this spam and can you tell where it is coming from? I guess they must either be spidering or picking up on our submissions to one of the engines.

All the best
Ian

Are they, "dominate the search engines for the price of a happy meal"?...if so, yes.

Ian,

I have gotten these all week.....they are the ones that take the screen shot of your homepage and use it in an image, right?

I actually got one today....and yesterday...and the day before.

Very aggravating!

<by the way>

Brett, I think this is a different one

Yes, those are the ones.

And yes I am still getting them for sites that I am optimising. Must be one of the SEs or Directories, I don't use multiple submitters (any more).

It's the listing in ODP probably. I recently did a site that's only been online for a week. Submitted to ODP and luckily got listed within a couple of days. Two days after that client forwards me the email asking why he's not in ALL the engines within 10 days. arrgh!! :)

Out of curiosity, are they being sent to email addresses in your domains' whois information? I got 1 of these once, I replied pretending to be a lawyer and said some stuff about spam and about copyright violation of my website (from the snapshot). The snapshot disappeared quickly and no more emails.
