I never use submission software but this is a pretty interesting read if you want to know the inner workings that go on with some of these submission software companies out there.

Wonder if more SEO companies will follow with this type of thing. Or if it will cause conflicts with other software out there.

That's a pretty thick document to sift through.

I believe that with the movement towards directory and pay per click or pay for inclusion that submission to the (few important) search engines is becoming less and less important.

From experimentation, it seems that most major search engines now raid the major directories and pull out the relevant information. Thus I've seen sites never submitted to the engines being indexed by the search engines thanks to the listing in ODP or Yahoo.

Good submission software will also be necessary to save time, but the way things are now it seems that more importantly than good software is a good bank account :).
