The idea would be to check one's ref log and make sure any linking sites are subitted to the major engines, ensuring full credit for all inbound links. Any thoughts?
Looking through my logs I see a lot of sites that people clicked from to get to my sites, but they weren't actually linked at all. Either they had another browser open and found me via a search engine, or they directly typed the url in. Seems it would take a long time to verify (unless using SearchEngineWorld's link checker). Upon verifying, it would seem ethical to contact the linking websites before submission (maybe they don't want their site indexed for whatever reason).
I've been limiting submissions to 5 pages per day per domain for over a year now and have encountered no problems at these limits. We're 99% certain that Anzwers ignores submissions beyond this limit, although they still send the "Thanks for your submission" response. I wish we were as sure about other SEs...
