Hi all,
I've recently installed Xmail onto my NTServer and have tried to run it as a service.

When I do I get the error message

Could not start the XMail Server service on \\pwdjp_s6.
Error 2140: An internal Windows NT error occurred

When I check the logs there are 2 error message's

The description for Event ID (0) in Source (XMail) could not be found. It contains the follwoing insertion string(s): Unable to create file

and
The description for Event ID(0) in Source (XMail) could not be found. It contains the following insertion string(s): XMail error: 0. {Unable to create file}: The operation completed successfully, (0x0)

I downloaded the mail server from the XMail site [xmail.net] and I have followed the instructions provided.

I need to get this mail server running, or find another free option. I thought about using NTSendmail but I've never been able to retrieve the documentation to run it.

The XMail home page is here [xmailserver.org] and it includes links to a couple support type mailing lists as well as a link to an XMail forum. If nobody here can help...

Thanks Dave, to tell you the truth I never noticed the forums links before.

After a quick read through the past posts I found the problem. WinZip, WinAce etc do not unzip empty folders by default, and there are initially 5 empty folders with XMail. It's hard to create a file in a folder that doesn't exist.

I always feel this big when the anwers are that simple.
