Double Hosting as a Precaution

Will it cause problems?

Double Whamy this month, out of both G and Fast due to server problems at the crucial moments; so I'm contemplating having a second hosting account as a back-up.

How can I get this to work without the mighty G seeing duplicates?

you may be able to implement something with DNS so that if your site is not available on one server, it will automatically be available on another, but i don't use anything like that so can't remember the details.

something else you might consider is building a second site with similar but totally rewritten content, and hosting that on a different server. if you look through the google forum you can see a lot of people saying that google has dropped their site for no apparent reason. by having a second site, if the main site gets dropped, you should still receive traffic from the first.

Hi C_F, it'd be the DNS solution I'd go for; if I could pick up some more info on it!

Sounds like you need to just switch providers. A provider should have very high availabity you shouldn't need to host at two places. That is the point of a Hosting Company.
