I downloaded the latest upgrade for Zone Alarm Pro yesterday and it's much improved in my opinion. The best change is a feature that blocks those darn pop up advertisements. This thing really works and for me, it's well worth the extra $19.95 upgrade fee to stop these pop up advertisements. Some sites I visit pop up four or more ads every time I visit their site and do it again if you leave their site or go into their site further. Maybe it's just me, but these pop up ads are destroying the Internet and some of the most popular sites are using them. It was completely over the top the other day when I visited a popular Internet newspaper site and they popped up a Yellow Submarine that didn't have a close button until is ran across the screen for about 30 seconds. I sent them a complaint and their webmaster replied and said he didn't like it either, but the ad folks were running the newspaper website and there was nothing that could be done. Well, now there is something that can be done and maybe, just maybe some of these sites will rethink these pop up and pop under advertisements.

Using alt+f4 to close a popup works really well for me. But you have to usually be pretty fast, because many load another popup when closed. And don't do it too fast or you'll close all your windows.

Sounds like, from some of the reports, that all is not perfect with the new Zone Alarm. I think I'll wait just a bit for the first maint release.

You're right that it's not perfect. The Java that puts a stop to pop up and pop under ads makes the browser look a bit funny at times and it moves the browser around a bit... That's strange to watch. However, it does help and it does give the consumer total control of cookies and how they are handled when they visit sites. Since webmaster world uses cookies to remember sessions, I did have to customize that feature, but it's not that difficult. I'm using IE 6.0 so it may or may not work better on different additions and/or on Netscape...

OK I just went to FRYS and saw the box for this product, nice and shinny - I pick it up shake shake shake, one CD. And still priced high - Atleast give me a book I wont ever read ;)
