You have telnet on both boxes? Try NCftp from the command line. You can ftp from one shell to the other shell. It will take some reading of the man pages to learn how to use it.

How would it be done if there were no telnet access? Just FTP download from one and FTP upload to the other, or is there another way?

That would be the only way.
It's reason to always have a perfect copy of your online sites off line.

I happened to come across a site [ftpy-ah.com...] this site may not be perfect but it does serve the purpose of transfer of data from one server to another. And it is unbelieveably fast. The main problem with the site is that it does not allow you to access yourlocal Hard Disk.

I use a product called webDrive from RiverFront Software. It essentially turns FTP connections from your computer into remote disk drives under Windows.
Moving things then just become a function within Windows Explorer. The nice thing is that you can keep many FTP connections open at the same time.
