The esteemed Gartner research group is warning all webhosts to "immediately" replace their Microsoft Internet Information Server (IIS) server software with a more secure server application.

Wow that is a strong recommendation...

Maybe those that use IIS need to look at replacing their administrators too!~ Many of the problems could have been avoided by having the latest patches and security hot-fixes applied.

Duh!

How many times will it take before people realize that IIs is junk?

My host had to disable the log files for a few days because of this last episode...that affected me and I'm on Apache. This M$ problem affects all of us and it's getting very old.

If you want to run Winblows as your web server fine...just use something besides IIS. Spare the rest of us...please!

2500 bugs in IIS, 2500 bugs;
Give one a whack with a service pack;
2599 bugs in IIS.

Honestly, Microsoft needs to really develop a new paradigm for security in all of their products. For the most part, they couldn't care less. This particular problem gave them alot of bad press, but even then - they had to get Gartner on the backs before they did anything. I wonder what it will require to get them to take raw sockets out of XP? A court order probably.

Wow given the number of bugs one has to question whether there maybe Afghan operatives working for MicroSlug...the moles probably develop these "holes" intentionally!~ :eek:
