I know it can't be that difficult

Man, I’m having trouble figuring this one out. I don’t know what it is about this particular topic, but, for some reason, useful documentation seems to be impossible to find. I’m sure that once I get some good information about it, it will turn out to be really simple (like everything else turns out to be, once you get the right information).

Here’s what I’m trying to do:

I want to set up a streaming internet radio station. With my current set-up, I’m using Windows Media Player embedded into the page, with an asx playlist… which is ok, but you have to start at the beginning of the playlist whenever you start listening. What I want is for the listener to “tune in” to an on-going continuous stream, just like you would an actual radio station. So the listener might tune in to the middle of Song #79, depending on what time of day they tune in.

I do not own my own server, by the way, I’m using godaddy for hosting, if that helps. And I don’t want to use any third-party streaming services - I want something that I can set up myself. Can anyone give me a step-by-step on this?

Phil

Not sure you are going to be able to do this yourself and the fact you don't have full control over the server kind of solidifies this.

I would look at SHOUTcast. It is through winamp, which is nice because it is free.

Here are the instructions to getting it set up.
