I have released a FREEWARE forum that works in Zope CMF it is listed on the Zope.org product pages under the name

cmfPgForum

It should work in Plone although I haven't tried it. I think the last version I released was all in DTML but if you want a ZPT version I have it I am just not sure if I have done a tarZip of it yet.

If you can't find it let me know, I know we have an open source forum we released and I am using it on a couple of my sites so I know it works.

Sorry I forgot to mention that it uses a postgreSQL DB for storing the forum data.

It is kind of obvious when you look at the name.

CmfPgForum

Pg = Postgres

I feel your pain. My major problem with Plone and Zope is lack of documentaion. I have spent hours tracking down calls to figure out how something works simply becuase there is nothing on the subject that I can find.

Plone.org does have a forum but it is quite stale and people only post questions and rarely are they answered. This is why I love WebmasterWorld as well, I have been shown so much for nothing, so I am willing to give back.

So for now use this thread. I am a Zope developer I do Zope 8 hours a day and I have done some Plone work for some clients who come to us when no other solution can be found. Plone is based on Zope so I should be able to help.

Ask me here and I will answer best I can, and if I can't find the answer I may have some avenues available to me that you may not have as I have managed to scrape emails of some of the Zope.org developers who from time to time will actually respond to me.

Let me know and Ask away
