Domain Name Forwarding - is it seen as spam?

I recently purchased a domain name containing a keyword and forwarded it to a specific page on my one and only website.

It seems from reading various forums that I may be penalized and/or blacklisted by search engines for "spamming".

Comments appreciated.

If you directly promote the forwarding domain online, then you could raise a flag as a spammer, since both domain names end up at the same content. If you only keep that domain for type-in traffic, then you're not spamming the search results.
