WHERE to host in the US?

In order to get a better presence in the US market, I want to set up a microsite on a US server. Does it matter WHERE in the US the server is located? I guess that the Washington/Virgina region and of course California are pretty high tech, but will it matter if my server is in Texas or Oregon or wherever...?

Matter for what?

Whatever your question is it does not matter. It won't affect speed and it does not affect search engines at all. I had 2 differnt dsl lines in my office one time and had a computer on each. I did a trace route on the other computer and it had 9 hops even left the state.
