I use dreamweaver to create sites and give them to clients with Contribute installed so that they can edit content - but is it the case you cannot edit templates and library items on the fly that will update accross the entire site?

For example - I cannot edit a sitewide template controlled navigation system.

Are there any extensions available etc? Is there any way to edit html in Contribute without 3rd party products like notepad?

Hi Every one,

im have some issues with contribute too.

We have our website designed by an external agency.
The website is ready to go live in a few days.

For maintining and content mangement we have now decided to purchase Macromedia Contribute.

And here is where the problem lies and It would be great to get some expert advice on this.

This agency goofed up with some links on a number of pages.

Now when i open the page in contribute I can correct the link on the individual page. But, I have to do this one page at a time.

Is there any way i can do the changes in one page and it gets reflected over the rest of the site?

is this possible?

Also a few pages are wrongly named. so can i rename those pages correctly by doing so only once?

I know that macromedia dreamweaver has this facility but can i do the same using Contribute?

any help on this is much appriciated.

thank you all for your time and help.

This seems to be the same issue I am having.

We are considering using a flat file php menu that is pulled into each page of the site as the navigation bar.

In theory you could edit one page (a series of navigation links) as you would any other. This php file is saved and then updated automatically it seems on every page that navigation array appears.

Means changing all the pages to .PHP, of course.

well we have used a Javascrip for out menus.
so all we ahve to do is include the .js file on all pages.
thats okay.

but some places have a few cross linkages thats bothering us.

I have given up on contribute and using Dreamweaver instead.
I just ahve to define a site and the search & replace in dreamweaver lets me specify if i want a site wide replacement or just some folders.

this feature has been a big help :-)
