I'm writing an ebook on programming, and I've decided on a tutorial format, taking the user through a medium complexity application from start to finish. I intend to release it with an open source licence.

I have a few ideas on what the application could be but they're not related to websites/seo - I'd rather do something on that topic because that's my "thing" right now and I'm less likely to procrastinate. The project will be cross platform.

Does anyone have a suggestion?
