Hello everyone,

One of my sites does not use very much bandwidth. Possibly 100 megs a month. Well all of a sudden I was using 2 gigs a day. I looked in the logs to find that several users were downloading 4 files at a time from my site that were a combined total of 73 megs. I then looked and these files were not even something I had put on my site! The files were in a deep directory that was not used. I deleted the files, the "leeching" stopped, only to pop up in another directory. How is someone getting into my hosting and doing this? What should I do?

Thank you for your help. I am really clueless about this.

Matt

It sounds like someone was able to gain access to your account, either through a weak password or some other flaw in your web server.

You should be on the phone with your tech support right now, having them investigate the instrusion.
