Hi All,
We have come up with a website. Now we want to host it somewhere and after much delibration we thought that it should be kept onto one dedicated server. We are assuming that some 20-30 (may be slightly more too) users can access the website across the intranet

The problem we are facing while choosing the suitable web server for our requirement. The data is almost static but the downloads can be a huge word document or a powerpoint presentation like that.

Any help would be appreciated regarding the same.

Thanks in advance.
:-)

Welcome to Webmasterworld! :)

I don't really understand what your question is. Perhaps you could restate it?

A dedicated server ought to be able to handle most needs of 20-30 people. Almost sounds like overkill. How BIG are these files?

Hi,
Basically which web server should we go for? We are not sure about it...depending upon the downloads.

Typical size of a download can be 1-6 MB documents.

Thanks.

Those aren't big files at all ( big is like 700 megs like the divx sites run )..what you need to consider is total megs likely to be served and thus bandwidth ..any current dedi server can do it ..

It's against the tos here to discuss actual hosting companies ..you may get some suggestions via sticky mail ..you could just google for "dedi servers + 200 gigs bandwidth per month" that will get you past all of the smaller guys ads ..

BTW ..welcome to WebmasterWorld

suitable web server for our requirement

With only 20-30 concurrent users it's neither the computer (server) nor the http server that are an issue, anything will do for those.
