Need advice on photo gallery

Want to purchase a pre-packaged app

I want to put a photo gallery on my web site so that visitors can browse through various catagories of photos. I also want authorized members to be able to upload their own photos and create new catagories.

I looked at dozens of cgi-based photo galleries on hotscripts and my head is spinning!

Does anybody have a personal experience with any photo gallery software (preferrably cgi-based) that will run under apache?

I have no idea if the ratings on some of these script web sites are legit so I'm looking for first-hand experience. So far i'm looking at emAlbum.
