Does anyone have any first hand experience regarding password scripts. I see there are about a hundred perl scripts from simple .htaccess all the way to credit card authorization and password automation.

I would tend to lean toward the automation side and was wondering if anyone had used one of these scripts before.

Hey BH, I'm killing two birds, floating the post and asking for clarification. What exactly are you looking for? A script I suspect, but to do what exactly? Password protect a page/directory/file? Credit card authorization? The script you need depends on what you're trying to accomplish of course... Give us a hint!! ;)

Ahhh yes. It is rather vague when I read it again. It makes perfect sense to me though.. ;)

I'm wondering about managing a subscription site. From credit auth to issuing and maintaining user passwds. I see several scripts written in perl that do the whole ball of wax but I was soliciting user experiences first.

Also is there problems with Authorize.net or not? Any feedback is appreciated.

BH,

I have used AN now for two-three years.

I never rely on them for tech. support though. When I did in the past the support had been bad (sorry to be negative there).

The only major problem I had was when they upgraded to version 3.0 software on their end, but did not let anyone know (other than a page on their site saying it). I have the service set to do an auth. capture only, that way I can catch fraud orders without being hit both ways with charges.

Im looking for similar advice..

I have used .htaccess in the past to password protect directories but now have a situation where i need to add and delete users. Doing this manually seems a bit of a knightymare.

And just how secure is .htaccess? Is there a way to have an expiry date on passwords?
